How long is Starbucks Reserve whole bean coffee good for?
Freshness varies depending on how the coffee is packaged and stored:
Unopened sealed bags of Starbucks Reserve whole bean coffee stay fresh for up to 12 months. Refer to the "Best Before" date printed on the bag.
Starbucks Reserve Whiskey Barrel‑Aged Guatemala has a shorter freshness window. Because its freshness date is tracked by lot number, the best way to confirm its ideal use‑by date is to ask your barista when purchasing.
Freshly scooped whole bean coffee is best enjoyed up to 14 days after the “Roasted On” date handwritten on the bag.
Once opened, we recommend enjoying your coffee as soon as possible and storing it in an airtight container, away from heat and light, to preserve its best flavor.
What’s the difference between scooped bags and sealed bags of Starbucks Reserve whole bean coffee?
Starbucks Reserve whole bean coffee is offered in two formats, each designed for a different type of coffee experience. Sealed 250‑gram whole bean bags include a one‑way Flavor Lock™ valve that helps preserve freshness, giving the coffee an unopened shelf life of up to 12 months. Hand‑scooped whole bean bags are freshly portioned in-store and best enjoyed up to 14 days after the “Roasted On” date handwritten on the bag. For optimal flavor, we recommend storing all coffee in an airtight container away from heat and light once opened.
If I purchase whole bean coffee at a Starbucks Reserve location, can my neighborhood Starbucks coffeehouse grind it for me?
Yes. Any U.S. Starbucks coffeehouse can grind Starbucks Reserve whole bean coffee for you.
