Meet the Lumbangaol siblings. Ambitious. Entrepreneurial. Collaborative. Alfiner and Julia grew up in a coffee family witnessing the challenges locals experienced when selling their beans. Known as coffee “collectors,” they traveled the Pollung region, gathering quality coffee cherries from nearby farmers, and then expanded their efforts to 250 smallholder farms, initiating the siblings as an integral part of the coffee community. They operate two mills and invest in livelihoods by buying premium beans. In the Batak language, pollung translates to “a dialogue.” We’ve been sharing the conversation of Sumatran coffee for four decades and are thrilled to partner with these siblings who found success combining traditional coffee expertise with devoted community love.
